Buried Lives Project

So... What do these six paintings have in common?

Answer: They are all the same painting. Each picture shows the painting as it existed for only one day. In this conceptual approach, I chose to demonstrate the ephemeral quality of beauty as well as construct a physical metaphor for the way in which we, as humans, layer ourselves. We often bury our past, and grow into something else. The metaphor is extended in that the canvas started as a pure, blank slate (Just as humanity did), and, by the end of the seven days I worked on this piece, I had covered the whole canvas with white again - bringing it full circle (And corresponding to the purifying that comes with death for those who are Saved).

"I believe we all think in Poetry"

“Retreat”
Outside dimensions: 22″ x 28″ (when framed)
Year Completed: 2012
Medium: Mixed media (including photos, dyes, paints, and ink)

So this is the piece that I worked on for the Majority of July. I had originally intended to enter it in a local juried exhibition, but, unfortunately, that didn’t work out. However, I stand behind the quality and craftmanship of the work. The Text embedded throughout the piece includes several quotes, song lyrics, and original poetry. The colorful “stained glass” effect is created by over 75 of my favorite photographs that I have taken. The piece represents an inner spiritual solace that I believe we all unconsciously or consciously are seeking.

Here's One for Clinton: my RA

I'd like to say this has some kind of deeper meaning- but really, it's just an inside joke. (That I just happened to spend the whole afternoon illustrating)

First post

I'm an old person; therefore, ima have to figure out this whole internet thing. That being said, I plan to attempt to use this blog as a way to track my progress as an expanding artist. I will post some of my work (both pictures and explanations), so that whoever chooses to view them could hopefully be blessed by that. I might also periodically interject random comments so that those of you who see them may be amused. More to come; I hope you'll keep checking back.
